Location, climate, flora and fauna
Municipal formation "Bologovsky District" is located in the North-West of the Tver Region, between two Russian capitals: 329 kilometers from Moscow and 319 kilometers from St. Petersburg.
The surface is predominantly hilly, covered with coniferous and mixed forests. The highest point is 222 meters above sea level. The climate is temperate continental. In the district there are 216 lakes, 40% are forests, 7% are swamps.
About 200 species of mammals (brown bear, elk, wild boar, wolf, fox, hare, lynx, marten and others), about 240 species of birds (capercaillie, black grouse, hazel grouse, owl, cuckoo and others), in lakes — a variety of fish species.
